St. Nicholas Preparatory School

23 Princes Gate, London SW7 1PT

Profile: St. Nicholas Preparatory School is a co-educational day school with some 300 children from all over the world enjoying a beautiful location overlooking Hyde Park. It follows a Montessori approach in the attached nursery and the Reception classes, switching to the traditional British curriculum from Year 1 onwards. Children have the opportunity of being prepared for transfer to the French school system. The school also welcomes the London Arabic School on Saturdays, which is another sign of its international, multifaith outlook.

Admissions: All parents are invited for an open morning and get to personally meet the Head for a discussion of their aspirations and values. Following registration, children are invited to the school for a trial morning, at which stage the child will be assessed by current staff.  Further details on the admissions policy can be found here.

Exit Results:

Pupils transfer to Senior Schools at the 11+ stage. Maybe due to its international profile, it seems somewhat less successful in placing their pupils into the top British senior schools. A full list of destinations from 2009 – 2011 is provided here.
